Radiator technology has improved over the years. Radiators are more efficient and less likely than ever to fail. Radiators still need to be maintained occasionally, however. It is important to maintain your radiators at home.
Radiators must be kept clean.
Radiators are often located in your room’s focal point without you even realizing it. Designer radiators are now available to make a bigger statement than plain white radiators. Dirty radiators will be noticed by guests as well as you. A radiator should be placed under a window. This is where a dirty radiator will be most noticeable. Radiators can also accumulate dust in crevices or grates.
This guide will help you maintain your radiators and improve the aesthetic of your rooms.
Why do Radiators Collect Dust?
The surrounding environment causes dust on radiators and other parts of your house. Dust is very fine and light and can be affected by any disturbance. It will rise to the surface and then settle around the house. Dust can easily be removed from your home because it is often found on items that are in the home.
The Tools You Need to Make a Spanking Clean Radiator
As radiators age, corrosion occurs, which causes the metal and paint to corrode, leading to a buildup that can block airflow. Here’s how you can clean your radiator if it is past due.
To clean radiators, you will need:
Spanky Dusting and Cleaning Tool
Vacuum cleaner
Microfibre cloth
Zoflora is a hard surface cleaner.
How to Clean Your Radiator
Once you have all the tools and supplies, it is time to clean and polish your radiator. These simple steps will make your radiator look great and save you half the time.
Turn off your central heating.
Turn off your heating. The instructions on how to do this will be in your boiler instruction manual. Allow the radiators to cool down to reduce any chance of burning.
Vacuum Your Radiator
Vacuum your radiator. Use the brush attachment to vacuum the top, sides, and front. A grill may be found at the top of your radiator. This is an ideal place for dust. To remove the most visible dust, use the brush attachment to agitate again.
Clean behind the Radiator
This is the most neglected area in a person’s cleaning routine. This is often the dirtiest area on a radiator. This may seem not very easy at first, but we have the solution. Use a Spanky Cleaning & Dusting Tool with a Microfibre Sleeve to remove dust. This should be repeated at each radiator end and in the middle (between brackets that hold the radiator in position).
It is possible that agitated dust fell on the floor beneath the radiator, and this will need to be vacuumed.
Clean the Radiator
Spray cleaner on your microfibre cloth and dampen the radiator. Spray more cleaner on the radiator to remove any soiling.
Some Extra Helpful Radiator Cleaning Tips
Use kitchen roll to absorb liquids from radiators. You can dampen a cloth with a hard surface cleaner and wipe it clean.
Before cleaning, turn off the heating and let your radiators cool down.
Use scourers and bristled brushes only for radiators. This could cause scratches to the radiators’ finish and ruin your home’s aesthetic.
