In many homes, I’m not able to say that all or the majority; however, there will be at least one hydrogen peroxide bottle in many houses. It is always in the form of a brown bottle since, once exposed to sunlight; it is unstable, splits, and becomes ineffective. If you purchase it, you’ll usually be able to find it in the aisle for first aid; this is the reason it’s frequently used as… an initial aid item. It has numerous other uses, particularly in cleaning. According to the CDC, hydrogen peroxide can be an effective disinfectant, as well as other bacteria, and creating any homemade cleaning recipe that contains hydrogen peroxide, you should make it at the time of need and then dispose of it after you’re finished. In essence, only make the required amount, as it’s unlikely to last long. Also, if you use it to remove a stain or whitener, try it on a concealed area to ensure it doesn’t damage or alter the fabric or surface.
Miracle Stain Remover
A few years ago, a recipe circulated all over Pinterest known as”the Dawn Miracle Cleaner. It consisted of 2 parts hydrogen peroxide and one part Dawn dish soap. Honestly, this can include any soap; though Dawn works well, it is not the only dish soap. The most crucial aspect here is to treat the stain like it would be treated for any other color. The first step is to remove any remaining liquid or debris by blotting and scraping. It would be best if you always treated dry paint. You can then apply the stain remover with a toothbrush to clean it up. Gentle brushing it into (don’t use too much, or you’ll have to perform more washing afterward). Allow it to sit for a minimum of 10 minutes, then wipe using a clean, dry cloth and water to wash off the stain (then wash as usual when necessary). This is one of the instances when you’ll prefer to test the product on a small area before putting it on a smooth surface (like a carpet or sofa).
Cutting Board Cleaner
Glass cutting boards seem resistant to odors. However, wooden panels (and also plastic) can become very stale over time. If you find that your cutting board smells terrible, it’s signaling that there’s a problem with the bacteria on the surface, which needs to be taken care of. One solution is to apply straight hydrogen peroxide spray on the surface and allow it to sit for five to ten minutes. Then, give the cutting board a thorough clean using soap and water. Rinse it thoroughly, and then allow drying. The straight application of hydrogen peroxide will indeed eliminate any bacteria that cause odor.
Garbage Containers
Garbage, recycling, and compost bins can become very stale. Whether you keep them in your home or even the garage, items must be cleaned frequently to prevent lingering odors. The best way to handle them is to ensure they’ve been properly cleaned. To eliminate any smells, use an even amount of pure hydrogen peroxide. Spray the inside of the bins with a thorough spray and allow them to rest for approximately 10 minutes. After this time is over, give them a quick clean. If odors persist, you can repeat this process repeatedly to bring your filthy bins to a clean and fresh state.
Blood Stains
Keeping a container of hydrogen peroxide available is an easy solution if you find bloodstains on your clothes or bedding. Once a bloodstain has formed, it can be tough to get out, so treat it immediately. When you spot a bloodstain, remove the clothing and apply some hydrogen peroxide over the affected area. You will see almost immediately the bloodstain begins to disappear. There may be some bubbling. That’s good! Then let it sit for about an hour before washing it off using cool water. Repeat this process until the stain has disappeared. Then, wash the garment as usual.
Toilet Plume + Toothbrush = Nasty!
You might have seen me talking about the toilet plume in the past. If you’re not aware of the meaning of toilet plume, then… that’s the tiny spray that comes from your toilet every when you flush it. Yes, you should, if your oral health tools (toothbrush!) are within reasonable proximity (six feet or more? ). If you are within a reasonable distance (say, six feet) with a reasonable degree of certainty, a bit of the toilet’s plume will hit the area. To sum it up, you could make an easy solutisummarizeting of 3 parts water to one part hydrogen peroxide and make it a soak for your dental health tools. I use this method using my Invisalign all the time. Let the pieces soak for 30 to 60 minutes, then thoroughly wash them and dry them in the air to kill bacteria. To finish, shut the lid before flushing.
Kids’ Toys
There are many kinds of toys for kids and many ways of cleaning them. Howevmanyonly has a handful of plastic toys, no batteries, and without internal parts, there’s an easy method to disinfect and clean the toys. Fill a bowl with a liter/quart of water, then add 1 Cup of hydrogen peroxide (so it’s a 4:1 mix) and place your toys there to soak for around 10 minutes. This will remove most of the microbes and bacteria grown on these toys. In the end, wash them thoroughly and let them dry in the air.
Makeup Sponges & Blenders
If you apply makeup, we understand that we must regularly clean our makeup tools. If you’re using sponges for applying your makeup, they could be challenging to wash. The best way to do this is to, first of all, wash them using soapy water. Then, you could do an overnight soak of about 10 minutes in a three to 1 solution – 3 parts water, one percent hydrogen peroxide. Allow to sit for around 10 minutes. This will aid in killing any acne-causing bacteria that must remove. If you have brushes, clean them with soapy water, after which you can apply a tiny amount of hydrogen peroxide. Allow it to sit for a few minutes before washing and drying.
Produce Wash
If you’re worried about the hygiene of your food items when you return home from the store, you can create a quick and easy wash. Fill the bowl with about one liter or quart of water and a Cup of hydrogen peroxide. Place your fruits and vegetables in the bowl and allow them to soak for approximately 5 minutes. This should provide the right amount of time for hydrogen peroxide to get rid of any bacteria or germs on your product’s surfaces. Make sure to thoroughly wash and dry your produce before placing them in the refrigerator or at the counter.
