Organizing and storing Seasonal Clothing!

Organizing and storing Seasonal Clothing!

Do you switch out your wardrobe to accommodate the autumn/winter and spring/summer months? I’ve never done this, but I’ve just started doing it, and it has been a significant improvement! I completed this exercise the other day and decided to share the steps so you could try this, too. It’s made a considerable impression on me. Everything is so much more tidy and more organized. It’s like entering an entirely new world!

Exploding Closet Syndrome

A closet doesn’t have been designed to hold four seasons of clothes. It’s meant to house your clothes in the upcoming season. My wardrobe would explode — you may have noticed it because it contained every item I owned. As soon as summer and fall have ended or when spring arrives, it’s the perfect time to change in your closet to clear out space and breathe fresh vitality into your wardrobe. Don’t be concerned if you’ve never tried the same thing before. It’s simple to do and will make a significant impact.

Start By Sorting

Start by taking out the non-seasonal clothes. This includes clothes that aren’t appropriate for the temperature or are the colors of last season. For instance, all my shorts and bright yellow and orange tops were gone, and my merlot sweaters and tops were released. If you do this twice yearly, your closet will always have a few transitional items, such as jeans and cardigans, dress pants, and blazers. This is fine. Your wardrobe should be half-empty by this time. Set all your seasonal clothes in your bedroom or on the floor.

Review & Declutter

If you’ve already done it before, collect all the clothes you’ve tucked away from the previous season and look through each item. Do you like it? Does it suit you? Does it fit your style? Are you planning to wear it, or are you bored with it? Be honest and critical in this case. Create a pile of donations to anything you do not like. And here’s the best part: making a shopping list of your requirements. I love doing this because I only need to check my wardrobe throughout the year, and I’m less frightened of having to look at it constantly. I could eliminate around 15 items as I went through this process the last time.

Restock & Store

Hang up everything that is in season. I prefer to arrange them by type of garment and then by color. Therefore, my jeans are first, followed by my dresses, skirts and sweaters. Then, dresses and shell tops.

Then, you can finish by putting away your winter clothes and storing them wherever possible. I have a closet that has been designated for this purpose; however, should you not have the storage space, you can get an under-bed bin to store your clothes.

It’s the same thing with the front closet. Replace winter jackets, shoes, and outdoor gear. I have a worn-out pair of black knee-high boots that have seen better times and are in dire need of replacement. The last time I bought these boots as an essential piece of clothing was four years ago, so it’s time to replace them and buy a new pair.

Rinse & Repeat

You can follow the same procedure as the new wave of seasons arrives and the next season arrives. You’ll feel as if you have more choices; you won’t have to go through your entire closet in search of something for you to dress in, plus you’ll find your wardrobe less messy as you only have the best seasonal things in there.
