Tips for a Clean Home All Year Long

Tips for a Clean Home All Year Long

You start the week with a tidy and clean home. You begin the week by having a clean, uncluttered home. You realize by mid-week that you must still fold your laundry or put away the dry cleaning. You have a growing pile of mail in your hallway, an old gym bag at the door, fresh laundry on the floor, and dirty dishes in the kitchen sink.

The house will be a disaster by Friday – until you take a break from the week to tackle the huge (and necessary) cleaning job. The cycle then starts again. It’s faster than you might think. Continue reading to learn how you can transform your home’s appearance permanently.

Edit your wardrobe as you go

You will never have to clean your closet again if you place your clothes in the donation pile every time you try something on and it does not fit anymore or does not suit your style. Store these items in a bag or hamper and go through them once a week to decide whether to donate, sell, or toss.

Rehang clothes immediately

Hang clothes that can be dry-cleaned in a separate section of your closet. Items that can be dry-cleaned should be kept in a different part of the closet.

You can have a dedicated hamper for each person in your home

It is not enough to have one hamper. It would be best to have a basket for every person in the house and an extra for linens. Use hampers with two baskets each to separate the whites ahead of time.

As Soon as You Arrive Home, Start the Washing Cycle

Start a wash cycle in the evening if you have a lot of laundry. This will give you time to fold and dry. Keep your laundry from getting into the bedroom. Fold and iron your laundry as soon as you finish the drying cycle. Keep a folding station near your washer/dryer.

Spray Clean Your Shower After Each Use

After each shower, spray a fine mist of shower cleaner on the entire area.

Hang towels on bars and robes on hooks

If you plan to reuse your towels two or three times, they must be adequately dried by air. Be sure to hang them up properly. Use a unique hook in your bathroom if you like to wear a bathrobe. It will make the room feel more luxurious.

Keep a Hamper for Laundry in the Bathroom

You are not in a hotel. Do not leave towels on the ground or in the bathtub. Throw them in the laundry basket if they last used three days ago.

Remove Clutter from Countertops

We get it; mornings get busy. You can put away your tube of toothpaste or container of oatmeal at night if you cannot before going to work. Spend a few moments each night putting everything away you used the previous morning. This will prevent you from having many products when you get home on Friday.

You can clean your toilet during your nighttime routine

It would be best to let the toilet cleaner work for a few minutes before cleaning it. To quickly clean the toilet seat, use a wiping cloth. This will help keep your bathroom clean between deep cleanings.

Clean the counters after getting ready for bed

After your beauty routine at night is complete, wipe down your bathroom counters. To make the process easier, keep a supply of cleaning products on your vanity.

So that they don’t accumulate in the sink, your dishwasher should be prepared to receive your breakfast dishes. Keep dirty dishes away from the sink to prevent bugs in the kitchen.

If you notice a spill, clean it immediately

You’ll be able to spot small spills more easily in daylight. So, check your counters and floors first thing in the morning. It’s tempting to say I will take care of this when I clean next weekend, but tackling the spill as it occurs will help you get into the habit.

Clean as you Cook

Two types of chefs exist worldwide: those that clean while they cook and those that don’t. Please start with the prep work, and wash it before cooking. Rinse your utensils after you’ve finished cooking. This will make cleaning up easier after eating.

Clean Countertops and Cooking surfaces

Before you go to sleep, wipe down the stove and counters. Make it a habit to wipe the microwave every time you use it. You’ll enjoy waking up in a clean kitchen.

Place Baskets in Each Room

Do a quick walkthrough in each room once a day. Fill your basket up with clutter and place it near the door. When you arrive home, put each item in its proper place.

Clean your coffee table and side tables during commercial breaks

It would be best to endure the inevitable commercial breaks while watching your favorite program. Wipe down the tables in your living room to avoid dust and stains.

Fluff Your Couch Pillows After Each Use

When you turn off the TV, fluff your pillows. Why would you let your pillows go flat if your TV was still on?

Place your bag, keys, and coat in the same place

Organize everything in one place to make it easier to leave the house in the morning.

Remove the trash and recycling when you leave the house

This habit can be alternated, but it will help you avoid having garbage piling up in your home.

Keep a mail sorter near the entryway

Place your mail into a basket or tray when you enter the house. Empty your tray every week after paying your bills. Most mail can be left for a few weeks unless you are waiting on something urgent. You can keep all your correspondence in one place and address them in bulk.

Workout Gear Should Be Laundered Immediately

Do not leave your gym bag unattended. Sort out the dirty clothes and put the rest away.

You can now create a weekly schedule for cleaning your home to maintain its sparkling appearance. You can hold yourself accountable by writing your cleaning schedule down on a whiteboard or chalkboard and ticking off each task as you complete it.
