How to Clean Sofa Upholstery
Always read the care labels on the items you are cleaning. This applies to everything you clean, not just your sofa. Before you start cleaning, test the product in a small area. You can avoid damaging the product by being cautious.
Care labels will indicate which cleaner you should use. We recommend HG Stain spray Extra Strong for fabric couches. This product is active with an oxygen formula, which removes all stains.
When cleaning fabrics with a stain removal product, blot it dry and not rub. Rubbing can make the stain more stubborn.
You should give your sofa a thorough clean at least once per week. Also, treat any spills and stains as soon as possible. They will be more difficult to remove the longer you leave them.
Regular cleaning
You will need a brush, vacuum, and, if necessary, baking soda. To clean your sofa, follow these steps:
Use a dry toothbrush to remove any loose particles gently. It would help if you cleaned up any stains along the way. You can follow this step if your sofa has a food stain or another soiling.
To gently loosen each stain with a stiff brush and to bring dirt and dust to the surface,
Vacuum your sofa. This step removes any dry soiling you have just agitated. You can also vacuum the sofa to remove dust.
Use your machine’s upholstery attachment to vacuum the sofa. Please take out the cushions and vacuum under them!
Use baking soda to deodorize – the bicarbonate soda absorbs odours and doesn’t mask them. This product is ideal for cleaning upholstered furniture.
Sprinkle baking soda on the sofa and cover it completely. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes before vacuuming. Test the baking soda first on a small section of your couch.
Stains – If your sofa has stains, please follow the next section.
Stain Removal
This section will explain how to remove stains. The best way to get rid of stains is to remove them soon. They will become more difficult to remove the longer they are left.
To remove the stain, follow the steps below:
Get rid of stains quickly. Even if you only have a few minutes to clean up a spillage, it can sit on the sofa.
Use a kitchen roll immediately after a spillage occurs to absorb any liquids or solids.
Always refer to the manufacturer’s instructions before cleaning your sofa. Your upholstery could be permanently damaged by using harmful chemicals. Test it on a small area to ensure that the product fits your sofa.
Use a dry toothbrush to loosen the particles. Following these guidelines, if trying to remove a stain from your sofa.
You can also use a brush or a vacuum to remove stray particles.
Use the Stain Spray to treat the spot.
Allow drying for 2 minutes. Then, blot the stain with a microfibre towel. To remove as much stain as possible, ensure that you blot thoroughly.
Allow your sofa to air dry. Then, enjoy your clean and fresh sofa the next day!
Cleaning fabric sofa cushions
Fabric sofa cushions should be cleaned with a soft cloth. The fabric sofa upholstery is not designed for hard scrubbing or soaking. It is important to use the correct cleaning products and techniques.
First, remove the cushions from your fabric sofa cushions. Next, remove the cushions from their sides and vacuum them using the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner. This will remove any dirt or dust.
Spot-clean stains with HG Stain spray. Spray the stain and allow it to dry for two minutes. Then, wipe with a microfibre towel until dry.
